Singer Vehicle Design has revealed its latest reimagined Porsche 911, and this time, it’s aimed squarely at enthusiasts of the 1980s-era “Turbo Look” Carreras. Officially named the Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Reimagined by Singer, the limited-production model pays homage to the rare M491 option package offered by Porsche between 1984 and 1989.
Best known for its meticulous restoration and reinterpretation of Porsche’s air-cooled 911s, California-based Singer is limiting this new commission to just 100 examples. Unlike previous long-hood tributes, this project draws design cues from the so-called “G-body” generation and features a carbon-fiber body that modernizes the widebody M491 silhouette while retaining unmistakable period-correct aesthetics.
Beneath the iconic flared fenders lies a thoroughly updated powertrain. The naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine, co-developed with Cosworth, produces 420 horsepower and incorporates modern upgrades including variable valve timing and a hybrid cooling setup that combines air-cooled cylinders with water-cooled heads. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox, staying true to the analog spirit of the original 911s.
Chassis engineering was done in collaboration with Red Bull Advanced Technologies. Reinforcements using a mix of steel and composite materials were applied to the 964-generation donor chassis to enhance torsional rigidity. Adjustable suspension with a front-end lift system and five selectable drive modes—Road, Sport, Track, Off, and Weather—bring modern handling and adaptability to the vintage platform.
Inside, each build offers near-limitless personalization. Clients can specify paint, leather, stitching, and trim details to tailor the car to their exact tastes. Options also include the addition of the classic “whale tail” rear wing.
Singer does not disclose pricing, but past builds often exceed $500,000. With only 100 commissions available, this latest creation promises to be one of the rarest and most desirable Singer builds to date—fusing ‘80s nostalgia with cutting-edge craftsmanship.
