According to The Auto Wire, a man in Sulphur Springs, Texas, is behind bars after police discovered a stolen Lamborghini hidden in his garage. The suspect, 34-year-old Everett Van Jennings, was caught after the vehicle’s owner used a GPS tracker to locate the supercar. This incident highlights the importance of vehicle tracking technology in recovering stolen cars.
The Lamborghini, reportedly stolen from a private event in Houston, was traced to Jennings’ residence using the tracker. After realizing his car was missing, the owner quickly activated the GPS tracker installed in the Lamborghini. This allowed him to pinpoint the vehicle’s location in Sulphur Springs, about 150 miles away from where it was taken.
Upon arriving at the indicated address, the owner stood outside the garage and used the car’s fob to activate the horn and lights. This confirmed that his prized supercar was indeed inside the garage. Acting swiftly, the police were contacted and they called Jennings, who claimed to be out of town and unable to return to his house. Despite his claim, police obtained a search warrant based on the solid evidence provided by the GPS tracker.
Once inside the garage, police not only confirmed the presence of the stolen Lamborghini but also discovered two other stolen vehicles. Additionally, they found extensive evidence of VIN swapping equipment, indicating that Jennings was preparing to alter the car’s identification numbers. This would have likely been a step towards selling the car to an unsuspecting buyer.
