Toyota’s been playing it coy for ages, but the cat’s finally out of the bag—their monstrous GR GT hypercar is rolling into the spotlight on December 5. No more wondering if it’d rock a Toyota badge or sneak into Lexus showrooms. Chairman Akio Toyoda spilled the beans during a livestream, dropping not just the date but a bone-rattling audio teaser of that hybrid V8 growl. Over on the Gazoo Racing site, a countdown’s ticking toward the big moment: 11 AM Tokyo time. Tick tock.

Daily Driven Collectibles: The Best Upgrades That Don’t Hurt Resale

Earlier this year, Fuji Speedway got a cryptic billboard—just enough to drive gearheads nuts. A shadowy front end, that GR logo, and the tagline “The soul lives on” alongside nods to legends like the 2000GT and LFA. Classic Toyota, waving the heritage flag hard.

Insiders wagered forever whether this beast would land under Gazoo Racing or Lexus’s F Performance wing. Toyoda says Toyota’s taking first bow, but whispers of a stripped-down Lexus LFR track variant won’t quit.

Spy shots have been everywhere—Nürburgring, Spa, even Goodwood’s 2025 Festival, where two camouflaged “GT Concept” mules lurked. One looked street-legal; the other screamed GT3 spec. Both snarled with that same V8 thunder from the livestream.

Officials are tight-lipped on numbers, but bet on a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 hybrid punching past 885 horses. After December’s reveal, the Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2026 gets the first public look.
