Two Influential 1932 Ford Roadsters to Headline Mecum Glendale 2026 Auction

Two historically significant 1932 Ford roadsters are set to take center stage at the upcoming Mecum Auction in Glendale, Arizona, where both vehicles will cross the block on Friday, March 20, 2026. Offered as consecutive lots, the pair represents distinct eras and philosophies within American hot-rodding, from traditional craftsmanship to groundbreaking custom fabrication.

Leading the offerings is a 1932 Ford Model B Hi-Boy Roadster, cataloged as Lot V314. Finished in red with a tan interior, the roadster was built by SoCal Speed Shop and blends classic styling with modern mechanical upgrades. Power is provided by a 350-cubic-inch Chevrolet crate V-8 paired with an automatic transmission. Supporting components include a Weber carburetor, a Holley Performer intake, rear coilover suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes.

The Hi-Boy configuration leaves the frame exposed, emphasizing the car’s traditional hot rod proportions. Inside, the roadster features a custom brown leather interior, a rumble seat, and a Kenwood audio system. The odometer reads 3,515 miles since customization, indicating limited road use following its build.

Immediately following is Lot V313, a 1932 Ford Roadster known as “Passion,” a car with recognized significance in custom car history. Built in 1989, the roadster was Boyd Coddington’s first all-aluminum creation and went on to earn the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster title in 1990. The one-off aluminum body was designed by Thom Taylor and fabricated by Coddington alongside Craig Naff for collector Butch Martino.

“Passion” is powered by a 5.7-liter LT1 V-8 engine backed by an automatic transmission. The roadster was originally finished in DuPont Plum and later refinished in its current orange and yellow flame livery. The odometer shows 5,690 miles since customization.

Included with the car are a Grand National Roadster Show 75th Anniversary plaque and trophy, underscoring its lasting impact on the custom car world. Together, the two roadsters highlight the evolution of hot-rodding and are expected to be among the standout offerings when Mecum ts 2026 Glendale sale.

Mecum Glendale will be selling over 2,000 collector vehicles at the State Farm Arena March 17-21. Visit their website to see all consignments and collections, buy tickets and register to bid onsite or online.
