U.S. Car Dealer Ships $3.7 Million Bugatti Chiron to Nigeria

A $3.7 million Bugatti Chiron is making its way to Nigeria, adding to the growing number of ultra-luxury vehicles on the continent as demand for high-end automobiles surges.

American exotic car dealer Mr. Jay, who has made a name for himself in the luxury auto scene, recently took to Instagram to showcase the limited-production hypercar before it was loaded onto a plane bound for Lagos. The stunning black and blue Chiron, one of only 50 produced, is expected to be one of the first in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.

This isn’t Mr. Jay’s first high-profile delivery to West Africa—he previously facilitated the sale of a Bugatti to Abuja in 2020. With over 433,000 followers, his social media presence has helped spotlight the growing appetite for exclusive supercars in Africa’s elite circles.

While Europe and North America have long dominated the luxury car industry, the market in Africa is rapidly expanding. According to Statista, revenue from luxury car sales on the continent is expected to hit $499 million in 2024, with projections estimating 5,000 high-end vehicles will be sold annually by 2029.

“The luxury car market in Africa is experiencing significant growth, driven by changing customer preferences, emerging trends, and local economic factors,” according to Statista. The growing number of wealthy entrepreneurs and business moguls is fueling demand for status-symbol cars, including brands like Bugatti, Rolls-Royce, Ferrari, and Lamborghini.

Beyond traditional luxury, there’s also increased interest in hybrid and electric vehicles, reflecting global trends toward sustainability. While hypercars like the Chiron remain rare, Africa’s ultra-rich are proving that they have the means—and the desire—to drive some of the most exclusive automobiles in the world.
