While all Ferraris are special in their own way, this 1954 Ferrari Tip 625 Monoposto sits head and shoulders above most. Not only is it an extremely rare 1950s Ferrari Formula One racecar, which you don’t encounter every other day, it boasts a pedigree which would make even the most sophisticated collectors’ hearts flutter.
Ferrari has a bright future ahead.
Everyone who’s followed Scuderia Ferrari from its inception or read the history knows the famous 500 F2, Maranello’s first to win the World Championship, among other notable victories. While this isn’t that car, it is its sister, having been upgraded in the factory in early 1954 to 625 F1 specifications.
In other words, this particular Ferrari racer has seen plenty of action on the track. At one point it was raced by Marquis Alfonso de Portago, the only Ferrari monoposto upon which such an honor was bestowed.
This car was also the first Ferrari campaigned by Ecurie Francorchamps, the legendary Belgian national team. These connections alone make it a car of great motorsports historical significance.
The Bardinon Mas du Clos Collection housed this impressive F1 racecar for over 15 years, where it received the upmost care. Perhaps that’s why it’s numbers-matching, adding further to its value and allure.
Some have been waiting for this Ferrari unicorn to emerge into the public eye once more. For the past 20-plus years it’s been housed in a private collection, but it’s finally back on the market and ready to call a new garage home.
Further sweetening the deal, Ferrari Classiche has inspected this 1954 Tipo 625 Monoposto and provided documentation of its history as well as a detailed report of the car. With that cherry on top, this would make an excellent addition to even the most impressive collections around the world.
Instead of crossing an auction block, this one-of-a-kind Ferrari F1 racecar is available through RM Sotheby’s Private Sales division. Those interested in purchasing it can inquire about the asking price, but know when this vehicle did go to auction in 2022 during Monterey Car Week it was estimated to sell in the neighborhood of $4,000,0000.
