Considered by many to be a true “unicorn” or “holy grail” among Ferrari collectors, an ultra-rare 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB is expected to fetch quite the top bid. This classic beauty will cross the auction block in Monaco during Artcurial Motorcars’ event with interest outclassing the other impressive lots.

An impressively restored Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa is also set to auction soon.

Many estimate this classic Ferrari will pull in a top bid upwards of $8,500,000 which is quite the tidy sum. However, there’s a strong possibility a bidding frenzy will push the final amount far northwards as anticipation mounts.

The car itself seems to be quite well-sorted and reportedly has a meticulously detailed and well-documented history all contained in a red book which is included in the sale. Many have marveled at how well it has been restored. This is also a numbers-matching vehicle.

But the most notable detail which makes this classic Ferrari so striking is its one-of-one blue Tigullio paint paired with a Pelle Rossa interior. While many favor red Ferraris, this one looks dazzling and is the only 250 GT to wear such a hue, automatically adding to its collectability.

For diehard Maranello enthusiasts, the 250 GT SWB is almost a ghostly legend, something they’ve heard others speak of and perhaps have studied in photographs, but have never beheld with their own eyes. This one in particular has been out of the public eye for about a decade.

With all that excitement surrounding this car, and many collectors reportedly quite anxious to add it to their garage, it’s understandable why some are expecting it to blow away estimates and shoot for the stars.

As several key factors which fuel the aspirations of car collectors line up with this 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB, we expect the final auction result to be nothing less than phenomenal.
