Even the average person who knows nothing about cars can tell at first glance the McLaren Elva is something special. The no-nonsense design which deletes not only the roof but also the windshield hearkens back to a time when sports cars required the use of driving goggles and enthusiasts were diehards. With this hypercar crossing the auction block in Monaco, the new owner will be able to live that experience firsthand.

An historic endurance racecar is headed to auction.

While all Elvas are special, thanks to production stopping at a mere 149 units, this one stands out as chassis 001, the first one built. And it looks dashing with Satin Kilo Grey over Jet Black.

The single owner of this Elva ordered €90,000 of custom features, something the new owner should enjoy. What’s more, this hypercar has a mere eight kilometers, so it’s not even close to being broken in.

Performance is front and center with the Elva, starting with a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, similar to what’s found in the 570S and 600LT. The body is made of just three carbon-fiber panels, the same material which makes up the doors.

Rocketing this hypercar forward is a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with 804-bhp at the driver’s disposal. That power is routed through a seven-speed dual clutch transmission for rapid gear changes on the fly.

McLaren claims the 0-62 acceleration time is 2.8 seconds while the top speed is 202 mph. Handling is just as extreme thanks to an active suspension, carbon ceramic brakes, and electro-hydraulic steering.

The Elva represents the continuation of McLaren’s Ultimate Series, which was launched back in 2015. It is not only the lightest McLaren road car ever at 1,269 kilograms, it’s easily the most extreme with nothing in between the driver and the open road ahead.

This unique hypercar will be crossing the auction block during RM Sotheby’s Monaco event on May 11. See its lot listing here.
