Among the small circle of brands at the very top of the hypercar world, Koenigsegg holds a place of unusual respect. The Swedish company, shaped by the singular vision of its founder, has managed to survive and grow across decades, outlasting far larger rivals in an industry that rarely shows mercy to newcomers.
For Koenigsegg, the appeal has never rested on dramatic styling or blistering speed alone. The company has consistently chased technological breakthroughs with each new model, and its latest creation, the Gemera, continues that pattern. Now the car has officially rolled off the production line, a milestone for a model the brand clearly regards as something special.
Christian von Koenigsegg shared the news himself, posting a video on his Instagram account to announce that the first Gemera is on its way to its initial owner. That car is believed to be bound for Switzerland, though Koenigsegg noted it will first appear at the Aurora Concours, giving the public a chance to see it in person.
Displaying a car first revealed back in 2020 might seem unusual, but the production Gemera differs from the original concept in several ways. Koenigsegg dialed back some of the more radical touches, swapping the camera-based side mirrors for conventional units and reworking the rear wing, front splitter, and other aerodynamic components, which now form part of an optional Ghost Package. The car remains a four-seater, a layout the company calls a “Mega-GT.”
The powertrain saw an even bigger change. The Gemera was first announced with a 2.0-liter twin-turbo three-cylinder plug-in hybrid, but the final version arrives with a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 working alongside three electric motors. Together they produce a staggering 2,300 horsepower and 2,028 pound-feet of torque, sent to all four wheels through the brand’s patented nine-speed Light Speed Tourbillon Transmission. Koenigsegg claims a 0-60 mph time of 1.9 seconds and a top speed of 249 mph.
