A rare group of slant-nose Porsche icons from The M Group Collection European Cars No Reserve offering is set to cross the block at Mecum Indy 2026, highlighting some of the most extreme and collectible forced-induction machines of their era.
All three cars—each representing a different evolution of Porsche’s Flachbau (slant-nose) design—will be offered at no reserve, creating a high-stakes opportunity for collectors when they cross the block on Saturday, May 16.

Leading the group is a 1986 Porsche RUF BTR Flachbau, one of the most exclusive builds in the lineup. Showing 22,067 miles, this example is believed to be one of as few as five U.S.-delivery slant-nose BTRs produced for 1986 and one of roughly 30 factory-built W09-VIN RUF BTRs overall. Built in Pfaffenhausen, Germany, the car features a 3.367-liter turbocharged flat-six producing 374 horsepower, paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. Finished in Tornado Red over Black, it was optioned from new with RUF wheels, intercooler, boost controller, four-pipe exhaust, and Recaro seats—hallmarks of RUF’s high-performance engineering.

Also featured is a 1988 Porsche 930 Turbo Flachbau Cabriolet, equipped with factory M505 slant-nose bodywork. This car shows 57,432 miles and is powered by a turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six paired with a 4-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. Finished in Black over a matching interior, it is offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, service records, and its owner’s manual. Additional features include power-adjustable heated sport seats, air conditioning, and staggered 16-inch Fuchs wheels, reinforcing its blend of performance and open-top luxury.

Rounding out the trio is a 1994 Porsche 964 Turbo S Flachbau X83, an exceptionally rare example with global significance. This car is one of only 10 Japanese-specification Turbo S Flachbau X83 models produced, making it one of the rarest factory slant-nose 911s ever built. It features a turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six producing 385 horsepower, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Finished in Silver over Black leather, it includes documentation, tools, and delivery accessories, further strengthening its collector appeal.
Together, these three cars represent the peak of Porsche’s slant-nose era—from tuner-built extremes like the RUF BTR to factory-engineered Turbo and Turbo S variants. Their inclusion in The M Group Collection European Cars No Reserve offering ensures strong attention when bidding begins at Mecum Indy.
With rarity, performance, and provenance converging in one place—and no reserve attached—this Flachbau lineup could become one of the most closely watched moments of the entire Indy auction.
This year marks the 39th Mecum Indy with over 3,000 vehicles for sale and many lots of collectible memorabilia. Visit the website to see fantastic vehicles- MANY AT NO RESERVE!
