Two highly collectible Porsche Flachbau models are scheduled to cross the block as a no-reserve pairing during Mecum’s Indy 2026 auction from the M Group Collection, giving collectors a rare opportunity to bid on some of Porsche’s most distinctive turbocharged performance cars from the 1980s and 1990s.
The featured pair includes a 1994 Porsche 964 Turbo S Flachbau X83 and a 1988 Porsche 930 Turbo Flachbau Cabriolet, both slated to sell Saturday, May 16. Each represents a unique chapter in Porsche’s slant nose legacy, a design heavily inspired by the automaker’s racing program and instantly recognizable for its low-profile front-end styling.
Leading the pairing is the 1994 Porsche 964 Turbo S Flachbau X83, one of only 10 Japanese-specification examples produced. The limited-production model was overseen by Porsche’s Exclusive Department and remains among the rarest factory-built slant nose Porsches of its era.
Finished in silver over a black leather interior, the car is powered by a turbocharged 3.6-liter M64/50S flat-six engine producing 385 horsepower. The engine is equipped with Bosch fuel injection and a KKK K27 turbocharger, paired to a five-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. The odometer currently displays 39,367 kilometers.
Performance engineering includes front independent suspension with MacPherson struts, rear independent suspension with coil springs and trailing arms, and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. The car is also offered with books, tools, a jack, spare tire equipment and documentation that includes a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
Joining it at the auction is a 1988 Porsche 930 Turbo Flachbau Cabriolet finished in black with a matching black leather interior and replacement black convertible top. The factory M505 Flachbau model is powered by a turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six engine paired with a four-speed manual transmission.
The convertible is equipped with a limited-slip differential, power-adjustable heated sport seats, air conditioning, power windows and a 930S steering wheel. Additional features include four-wheel cross-drilled and ventilated disc brakes, staggered 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels and an Alpine CD stereo system with MB Quart speakers.
Its odometer currently reads 57,433 miles, and the vehicle is accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, owner’s manual and service records.
Together, the two Flachbau models showcase Porsche’s factory-built interpretation of race-inspired styling during the height of the brand’s turbocharged performance era. Their no-reserve status is expected to draw significant attention from collectors during the upcoming Mecum Indy 2026 auction.
