One of Chevrolet’s most unusual and collectible utility vehicles is set to cross the block at Swafford Auction Group LLC, as this 1963 Chevrolet Corvair 95 Rampside Truck prepares to sell with bidding starting at just $1.

Unlike traditional pickups of the era, the Corvair 95 Rampside was built around Chevrolet’s unconventional rear-engine platform, giving the truck a completely different layout and personality compared to Ford and Dodge competitors of the early 1960s.
What made the Rampside especially unique was its namesake fold-down side ramp, a design feature that allowed owners to load motorcycles, equipment, appliances, or cargo directly from the side of the truck bed. Even decades later, the clever design remains one of the most recognizable features ever fitted to an American pickup.
This particular example is powered by a 6-cylinder engine equipped with freshly rebuilt dual carburetors and paired with an automatic transmission. The auction listing notes the truck shows 79,625 miles and also features air conditioning along with all-new brakes.
The Corvair truck lineup developed a cult following over the years because of its unusual engineering and versatility. Chevrolet produced the Corvair 95 series during a time when automakers were experimenting with compact utility vehicles, and the Rampside quickly became the standout version thanks to its distinctive functionality.
Today, surviving examples are considerably less common than traditional vintage pickups, especially ones that remain roadworthy and retain hallmark features like the side-loading ramp setup.

The rear-engine layout also gives the truck a completely different visual profile than most American pickups from the period, with a low floor height and forward-control cab design helping maximize usable cargo space.
Interest in Corvair models has steadily grown among collectors looking for something outside the mainstream muscle car and truck market. Vehicles like the Rampside tend to attract attention wherever they appear because even longtime enthusiasts rarely encounter them in person.

With rebuilt carburetors, new brakes, automatic transmission, and factory-style utility charm, this 1963 Chevrolet Corvair 95 Rampside could become one of the more conversation-starting vehicles at the upcoming Swafford auction. See it here.
