Restored 1962 Chevy II Nova Convertible Heads to Auction With Modern V8 Power

A heavily restored 1962 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova 400 convertible is drawing attention on BuyTheCar as bidding reaches $4,500 with more than five days remaining. Located in Riverside, California, the classic drop-top combines vintage styling with extensive mechanical and cosmetic upgrades aimed at improving both performance and drivability.

Originally delivered from the factory with an inline-six engine, the Nova has since been transformed with a rebuilt 355 cubic-inch small block Chevrolet V8 paired to a TH350 automatic transmission. The updated powertrain also includes FiTech fuel injection, a Champion aluminum radiator and dual electric cooling fans designed to improve reliability and engine cooling.

The exterior received a complete restoration and now wears a gold paint finish complemented by newly installed chrome trim and bumpers. A new convertible top was also fitted as part of the build. The car rides on 18-inch US Mags Rambler wheels finished in polished black and aluminum, giving the compact Chevrolet a more aggressive stance.

Additional performance upgrades include a front disc brake conversion featuring drilled and slotted rotors, along with all-new suspension components and front control arms. The braking system was further updated with a new master cylinder and brake booster.

Inside, the Nova features a completely refreshed black interior with new vinyl bucket seats, updated carpet, new rear bench upholstery and replacement door panels. The dashboard was refinished and fitted with Dakota Digital gauges, blending modern instrumentation with the car’s classic design.

Electrical upgrades include a new American Autowire harness and fresh spark plugs. According to the seller, most of the newly installed components have logged fewer than 100 miles since completion.

The vehicle is being offered for sale by a private seller with a clean California title.
