A newly delivered Bugatti W16 Mistral is drawing attention not for restraint, but for its deeply personal and artistic approach to customization. As the final Bugatti model powered by the brand’s iconic quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine, the Mistral might typically encourage conservative design choices aimed at preserving long-term value. Instead, one owner has taken a different path, commissioning a one-of-a-kind specification that emphasizes emotion and individuality over convention.
Completed through Bugatti’s Sur Mesure program, the bespoke roadster, named “Caroline,” reflects a softer, more expressive vision than the car’s aggressive mechanical identity might suggest. Inspired by the lavender fields of Provence, France, the exterior is finished in a custom lavender hue, complemented by exposed carbon fiber elements across the bumpers and side skirts. The carbon fiber itself carries a subtle violet tint, adding depth and cohesion to the design. Matching purple brake calipers further tie the color palette together.
The most distinctive detail appears beneath the rear wing, where a white-painted surface features delicate purple floral motifs alongside the name “Caroline,” honoring the owner’s daughter. The personalization continues inside, where the cabin is trimmed in Blanc and Minuit leather tones, accented by deep violet highlights and the same tinted carbon fiber used on the exterior. Floral embroidery is carefully integrated into the headrests, door panels, and transmission tunnel, reinforcing the Provence-inspired theme.
A signature element found in other Mistral models remains present: Bugatti’s sculptural “Dancing Elephant” embedded within the gear shifter and encased in glass, serving as a nod to the brand’s artistic heritage.
This latest Mistral underscores a broader trend among ultra-luxury buyers, who are increasingly prioritizing storytelling and personal expression over resale considerations. The result is a vehicle that stands not only as a high-performance machine, but also as a deeply individual work of automotive art.
