Choose a make

Before you buy any collector car

• Get a pre-purchase inspection from a marque specialist, not a general mechanic.
• Verify the paperwork against the car: VIN, engine number, factory build records and title.
• Price in deferred maintenance. A car that needs a major service is worth less by the cost of that service.
• Know the comparables. Check recent auction results for the same model, spec and condition before you bid.
