Swedish automaker Polestar is blending cinematic storytelling with electric performance, enlisting actor Alexander Skarsgård to showcase its most advanced model yet — the all-electric Polestar 5.

In a newly released short film produced by Polestar’s in-house creative team, Skarsgård explores the minimalist design and cutting-edge technology of the company’s flagship grand tourer. The piece takes a restrained, cinematic approach, echoing Polestar’s Scandinavian design language with sleek visuals and an understated tone. It concludes with Skarsgård delivering the reflective line, “Fantastic. Tomorrow’s not dead yet.”

The Polestar 5 marks a major step forward for the Volvo-backed EV brand, evolving directly from the 2020 Precept concept. Built on Polestar’s bespoke bonded-aluminum platform — known as Polestar Performance Architecture (PPA) — the car combines rigidity with reduced weight, offering supercar-level handling and refinement. Under the hood, dual electric motors deliver a combined 871 horsepower and 749 pound-feet of torque. Polestar says the grand tourer can sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds.

The model also features an advanced chassis setup, including a double-wishbone front suspension and MagneRide adaptive dampers for improved ride balance and responsiveness. Its 800-volt electrical architecture supports ultra-fast charging and enhanced efficiency, aligning with the brand’s push toward next-generation EV performance.

Sustainability is central to the Polestar 5’s identity. According to the company, 83 percent of its aluminum is sourced from renewable-energy smelters, while the remaining 13 percent comes from recycled metal. Inside, natural-fiber composites and a new lightweight weave material cut fossil-based plastics by half compared with conventional interiors.

While the short film serves as marketing for the new model, it also reinforces Polestar’s core philosophy — combining Scandinavian aesthetics, high-performance engineering, and a forward-looking commitment to sustainability.
