As the Quad City Auctions prepares to get underway Saturday, January 24, two classic American muscle cars are already drawing attention from bidders ahead of the 1 p.m. start time. The on-site sale features a wide range of vehicles, but early interest has centered on a 1972 Dodge Demon 340 and a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS, both offered with reserve pricing and online bidding access.

The Dodge Demon, listed as Lot 105, represents one of the more desirable compact Mopars of the early 1970s. Powered by a 340-cubic-inch V8 paired with a 727 automatic transmission, the Demon is described as having a rebuilt engine and is reported to start, run, and drive well. The car carries a clear title and is presented as a turnkey driver rather than a dormant project. With four bids placed so far, the Demon had reached $10,100 as of the latest update, though the reserve price has not yet been met. Fresh paint and the model’s reputation for strong performance continue to make the Demon a sought-after entry point into Mopar muscle.

Chevrolet fans are watching Lot 109 closely, a 1970 Chevelle Malibu SS Sport Coupe that blends documentation with mechanical changes. The car is noted as having been originally equipped with a 454-cubic-inch V8, though that engine has since been replaced with a 1968-era 396 V8. The Chevelle features an automatic transmission, rear-wheel drive, cowl induction, bucket seats with a center console, and factory-style power steering and power disc brakes. The vehicle is reported to start, run, and drive, making it an appealing option for buyers seeking a usable classic rather than a restoration candidate.
Bidding activity reflects that interest, with 10 bids pushing the Chevelle to $33,000, still short of its reserve. Like the Demon, the Chevelle is offered as a brokered private sale and will be sold as-is, with buyer costs limited to a 10 percent premium plus applicable taxes on that premium.
Both vehicles will be available for public preview on January 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with additional preview times available by appointment. As bidding continues, these two lots highlight the diversity and enduring appeal of classic muscle cars crossing the block at Quad City Auction.
