A rare and beautifully equipped 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible will serve as one of the showcase offerings at the upcoming Carlisle Auction, where it is slated to cross the block as Lot #493.1.
Cadillac’s Eldorado Biarritz was the pinnacle of luxury in the late 1950s, combining bold styling with cutting-edge technology. For 1957, just 1,800 were produced, making surviving examples highly sought after by collectors. This particular convertible shows 49,000 original miles and has benefitted from both an engine and transmission rebuild, ensuring it remains as capable on the road as it is impressive on display.
Power comes from a 365-cubic-inch V8 rated at 325 horsepower and fed by dual four-barrel carburetors. A four-speed automatic transmission delivers smooth shifts, while features like power steering and power brakes bring an added level of refinement. In keeping with Cadillac’s reputation for advanced features, the car is equipped with an eight-way power seat, power antenna, electric headlight dimmer, and even an electric trunk.
The convertible top is power-operated and includes a parade boot, a feature often seen on high-end luxury convertibles of the era. Inside, an AM/FM radio and restored wheels round out the details. According to the auction listing, all five wheels have been fully restored, further enhancing the car’s presentation.
As Cadillac’s flagship open-air model of the 1950s, the Eldorado Biarritz remains one of the most iconic American cars of its time.
