Custom 1955 Chevrolet Panel Wagon at Swafford Auctions

A customized 1955 Chevrolet Panel Wagon equipped with modern performance upgrades is scheduled to cross the auction block through Swafford Auction Group LLC, with bidding set to begin in two days.

Listed as Lot #21004 at Swafford Auctions, the vintage Chevrolet combines classic 1950s styling with contemporary mechanical components, reflecting the growing popularity of restomod builds that blend historic designs with updated drivability and performance.

The Panel Wagon is powered by a fuel-injected 6.0-liter LS engine paired with a 4L60 automatic transmission. The setup replaces the vehicle’s original drivetrain with a more modern powertrain designed to deliver increased reliability and improved road performance while maintaining the wagon’s vintage appearance.

Several comfort and convenience upgrades have also been added to the build. The vehicle features power steering with a tilt steering column, power brakes and a digital dashboard, giving the classic Chevrolet more modern functionality for everyday driving or long-distance cruising.

Chevrolet’s Panel Wagons from the mid-1950s have become increasingly desirable among collectors and custom builders due to their distinctive styling and versatility. Originally designed as utility vehicles for commercial use, many surviving examples have since been transformed into custom cruisers, show vehicles and performance-oriented builds.

The 1955 model year remains especially significant among Chevrolet enthusiasts as it marked the debut of the brand’s celebrated “Tri-Five” design era, which includes the 1955, 1956 and 1957 Chevrolet passenger vehicles. The styling and strong aftermarket support have made the generation one of the most recognizable platforms in the collector car hobby.

The auction listing notes the vehicle’s mileage as exempt, a common designation for classic vehicles of this age. Additional details regarding the Panel Wagon’s history or restoration were not provided in the listing.

Bidding for the customized Chevrolet is set to open with a starting price of $20,000 as collectors continue to show strong interest in vintage American vehicles upgraded with modern drivetrains and technology.
