Ferrari Revives Legendary Name with High-Tech Hybrid 849 Testarossa

Ferrari has officially reintroduced the revered “Testarossa” name, unveiling the hybrid 849 Testarossa as the successor to the SF90 Stradale, a move that bridges the brand’s storied legacy and cutting-edge performance technology.

Launched at a global event in Milan, the 849 Testarossa embraces a mid-rear plug-in hybrid powertrain that blends a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with three electric motors. The system delivers a peak output of approximately 1,036 horsepower — outpacing its predecessor by nearly 50 horsepower. Acceleration figures are equally extreme, with the car hitting 0–62 mph in just 2.3 seconds and reaching speeds beyond 205 mph.

Ferrari is offering the 849 Testarossa in both fixed-roof coupe and retractable Spider configurations, with European starting prices set at €460,000 and €500,000 respectively. Deliveries will begin in mid-2026 in Europe, with U.S. deliveries following shortly after and at higher prices due to tariffs.

Outside performance, the design is a radical departure from its predecessor. While honoring the Testarossa name, Ferrari has reinterpreted its aesthetic — forgoing the iconic side strakes for sharper, modern geometric lines and a vertical luminescent accent. The cockpit has been overhauled with ergonomic enhancements, including a floating central console (“sail”) and tactile mechanical buttons, marking a shift away from touch-sensitive controls.

Ferrari’s revival of the “Testarossa” name reflects both homage and evolution. Earlier this year, the company filed a trademark for “849 Testarossa,” signaling intent to revitalize this iconic marque for the modern era.

With the 849 Testarossa, Ferrari not only honors a storied heritage but forges ahead into the future with unrivaled hybrid performance and bold design.
