A meticulously restored 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is set to turn heads when it crosses the block at the upcoming Freije & Freije Auctioneers Fall Big Boy Toy Auction, hosted at the Auto Dealers Exchange in Indianapolis. The two-day event, running Sept. 26–27, will feature more than 400 lots, including classic and collector vehicles, minibikes, and automobilia, with over 50 no-reserve entries.
The featured Chevelle, identified as a true 138-series Super Sport, carries the desirable L34-coded 396-cubic-inch big-block V8 rated at 360 horsepower. Paired with a four-speed manual transmission and 12-bolt rear differential with a 3.36 gear ratio, the car was built for performance as well as style.
Finished in factory-correct Regal Red over a black interior, the coupe was restored to showroom standards, with details that include bucket seats, a console, and a period-correct “knee knocker” tachometer. A Protect-O-Plate accompanies the car, providing added assurance of authenticity for collectors. Red line tires mounted on steel wheels with dog dish hubcaps complete the factory look.
Auction organizers note that the car has undergone a complete frame-off restoration, including a detailed underside that reflects its high-quality workmanship. Dual exhaust, gold-anodized trim, and matching numbers further add to its desirability among Chevelle enthusiasts.
Classic Chevelles remain a fixture in the muscle car world, celebrated for their balance of everyday usability and quarter-mile performance. This example, offered alongside dozens of other vintage machines, is expected to draw strong attention from bidders.
