The clock is ticking for performance fans who want a shot at one of Ford’s most celebrated modern supercars. The 2006 Ford GT giveaway ends 2/22, and for a limited time, supporters receive 40 percent more entries for a chance to win the ultra-low-mile supercar or choose a $250,000 cash alternative.
This particular Ford GT is no ordinary example. Finished in Midnight Blue with optional over-the-top painted white stripes and Ford GT graphics, it is one of only 190 produced in that color combination for 2006. The car has had one owner and shows just 235 miles since new, placing it firmly in collector-grade territory.
The design traces its roots directly to the GT40 race cars that claimed overall victories at Le Mans from 1966 through 1969. Like its predecessor, the 2006 GT features an extruded-aluminum space frame, roll-bonded floors and aluminum body panels. Aggressive styling cues include HID headlights, fog lights, side air intakes, a vented hood, front splitter, rear diffuser and a dual center-exit exhaust system.
Power comes from a mid-mounted 5.4-liter DOHC V8 equipped with a Lysholm screw-type supercharger and dry-sump lubrication system. Output is rated at 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a Ricardo six-speed manual transaxle and helical limited-slip differential. The driving experience is distinctly analog, anchored by a true manual gearbox.
Factory options include forged lightweight BBS aluminum wheels measuring 18 inches up front and 19 inches in the rear, red-painted four-piston Brembo brakes with cross-drilled and ventilated rotors, and a McIntosh CD stereo system. Inside, Sparco seats with carbon-fiber shells and GT40-style ventilation grommets reinforce the race-inspired character, while air conditioning adds everyday comfort.
Donation levels correspond to entry totals, with higher tiers delivering substantial bonus entries during the 40 percent promotion.
