Buick built just 547 GNXs for 1987, every one of them black, as a send-off for the turbocharged Grand National. Developed with ASC/McLaren, its 3.8-liter turbo V6 was officially rated at 276 hp and 360 lb-ft, numbers widely believed to be conservative, and it could run 0-60 mph in under five seconds. It cost $29,290 new. Today, the best examples sell for ten times that or more, and the record jumped by nearly $120,000 this fall.
Because every GNX is the same year, color, and spec, the chart comes down to mileage, originality, and which serial number you are holding. Prices include buyer’s premium or platform fees where reported and reflect public auction results through early October 2026. Each car is listed once, at its highest sale.
10. GNX with 1,200 Miles — $215,000

- Sold: $215,000
- Auction: Bring a Trailer, September 2021
In 2021, a GNX crossing $200,000 still made national headlines. This 1,200-mile car came within a few thousand dollars of the record at the time. Today it would barely crack the top ten. Read more about the sale.
9. GNX with 8,000 Miles — $225,000

- Sold: $225,000
- Sale date: July 2026
The most-driven car on the list shows how much the market has risen. An 8,000-mile GNX now outsells cars that had a fraction of its mileage just a few years ago. See recent GNX comparables.
8. GNX #274, 2,200 Miles — $230,000

- Sold: $230,000
- Auction: Bring a Trailer, May 2025
A year earlier, this car’s owner turned down a $142,000 high bid. The second time around, 33 bids in the final 27 minutes pushed the price up by $88,000. Read more about the sale.
T-6. GNX with 584 Miles — $242,000

- Sold: $242,000
- Sale date: September 2025
Even with replaced bumper fillers, some dull spots in the paint, and a non-working power antenna, this sub-600-mile car brought nearly a quarter-million dollars. Read more about the sale.
T-6. GNX #547, the Last One Built — $242,000

- Sold: $242,000
- Auction: Mecum, Kissimmee, January 2017
- Mileage: 68 miles
The final GNX off the line has never been titled. When it last sold, in 2017, it brought one of the highest GNX prices of its day. It’s still in private hands, and Hagerty has suggested it could be worth more than $650,000 if it returns to auction. Read more.
5. GNX with 1,200 Miles — $243,096

- Sold: $243,096
- Sale date: December 2025
This all-original, roughly 1,200-mile car was one of a run of late-2025 sales that landed between $240,000 and $255,000. Once a GNX is under about 2,000 miles, the market treats mileage as a minor factor. See recent GNX comparables.
4. GNX with 843 Miles — $255,000

- Sold: $255,000
- Sale date: August 2025
This was the strongest GNX result in the three years after the 2022 peak, and a sign the market was heating up again ahead of this fall’s record. Read more.
3. GNX with 8.9 Miles — $275,000

- Sold: $275,000
- Auction: Barrett-Jackson, Las Vegas, June 2021
Sold new through Ralph’s Buick in Mena, Arkansas, this car went straight into storage and was never registered. With fewer than nine miles and its factory wrappings still in place, it set a record and was billed as the lowest-mileage GNX known to exist. Read more about the sale.
2. GNX with 568 Miles — $308,000

- Sold: $308,000
- Auction: Barrett-Jackson, Scottsdale, January 2022
At the height of the pandemic-era collector boom, this 568-mile GNX became the first to clear $300,000. For more than four years, its price looked like the model’s ceiling. Read more.
1. GNX #450, 30 Miles — $427,000

- Sold: $427,000
- Auction: Bring a Trailer, September 2026
GNX #450 sold on Bring a Trailer for $200,000 in July 2024 with 26 miles. It covered just four more miles before returning to BaT this September, where it shattered the old record by $119,000. The timing helped: Kendrick Lamar named his 2024 album GNX and featured a Buick Grand National in his 2025 Super Bowl halftime show, introducing the car to a new generation. Read more about the sale.
Just Missed the Cut
A 1,190-mile GNX sold for $206,000 on Bring a Trailer in November 2021. For context, the last Grand National ever built, the GNX’s regular-production sibling, sold for $550,000, the most ever paid for any Buick at auction.
What the List Tells Collectors
With every GNX built to the same spec, mileage and provenance do all the work. Cars under 2,000 miles have clustered between $230,000 and $255,000, while true time capsules with double-digit mileage now command a big premium. The obvious question is #547: if the last GNX ever built comes back to market, $427,000 may not stand for long.
Does #547 walk past Hagerty’s $650,000 guess if it ever comes back, or is $427,000 about where the GNX tops out?
