1979 Pontiac Trans Am Set to Cross Block at Spring Specialty Auction

A 1979 Pontiac Trans Am is scheduled to go under the hammer at the 2026 Spring Specialty Auto Auction on May 9, drawing attention for its well-maintained condition and classic performance features.

Finished in Cameo White with contrasting blue graphics, the coupe reflects the bold styling that defined late-1970s American muscle cars. Inside, the vehicle features blue vinyl upholstery that complements the exterior color scheme, maintaining a cohesive and period-correct presentation.

Under the hood, the Trans Am is powered by a 403 cubic-inch V8 engine paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The combination delivers the kind of smooth yet capable performance expected from Pontiac’s iconic lineup during that era. The car is also equipped with the WS6 Special Performance Package, a sought-after option that enhances handling and driving dynamics.

Additional features include a functional Shaker hood, front and rear spoilers, and a quad-outlet exhaust system that reinforces the car’s aggressive stance. The Trans Am rides on 15-inch snowflake alloy wheels and benefits from four-wheel disc brakes, offering improved stopping power compared to earlier models.

Comfort and convenience are also part of the package, with power steering, power windows, cruise control, a tilting steering wheel, and air conditioning all present. These features highlight the blend of performance and everyday usability that helped make the Trans Am a standout in its class.

The vehicle is described as being in excellent condition, with flawless paint and a clean, rust-free body. Mechanical performance remains strong, and even smaller details, such as the functioning dashboard clock, reflect the level of care the car has received over the years.

As it approaches the auction block, this 1979 Trans Am represents a well-preserved example of a classic American performance coupe, appealing to collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Check out this consignment and over 100 others at the Specialty Auto Auction May 9th. The auction begins at 9 a.m. MT in Greeley, Colorado.
