One of Mercedes-Benz’s most extreme modern supercars, a 2014 SLS AMG Black Series, is set to be offered at no reserve during the upcoming Saratoga Motorcar Auction. With just 15,946 miles, the example represents a rare chance for collectors to acquire the ultimate evolution of the SLS lineup.

The Black Series, unveiled in 2013, was inspired by Mercedes-AMG’s GT3 race cars and built in limited numbers. Under its long hood sits a naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V8 tuned to deliver 670 horsepower, revving to an extraordinary 8,000 rpm. Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, the coupe can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 196 mph.

Lightweight construction was a focus, with extensive use of carbon fiber, a titanium exhaust system, and a track-oriented suspension setup. The Black Series also features an aggressive aerodynamic package, including a wider stance, flared fenders, and a fixed rear wing, all designed to enhance performance at speed.

Finished in its original black paint over a black leather and suede interior, this example comes equipped with air conditioning, power accessories, and AMG’s signature gullwing doors. Despite its motorsport pedigree, it retains road-going comfort and usability, making it as striking on the street as it is capable on the circuit.

Originally priced around $275,000, the SLS AMG Black Series has since become one of the most desirable modern Mercedes collectibles, with values climbing steadily in recent years. Offered without reserve, the Saratoga auction will determine its market value when the car crosses the block.

The Saratoga Auto Auction takes place September 19-20. We anticipate more than 250 vehicles, several with no reserve and 100 lots of memorabilia. The auction is the highlight of several events including Thursday’s Preview Day and an evening concert. Plan a trip or register to bid online.
