One-Owner 2000 Honda S2000 Emerges as Well-Preserved Example of Early Production Model at Carlisle Auctions

A 2000 Honda S2000 finished in Silverstone Metallic is drawing attention in advance of the upcoming Spring Carlisle Collector Car Auction, April 23–24 at the Carlisle, Pennsylvania Expo Center. Offered for sale at the event, it’s represented as a well-maintained, one-owner example of the iconic Japanese roadster’s debut model year. Originally purchased new in Massachusetts in 2000, the vehicle has remained in the care of its original owner and presents with no accident history and no modifications, underscoring its originality more than two decades later.

The S2000 is powered by a 2.0-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine producing 240 horsepower, paired with a six-speed close-ratio manual transmission. This combination helped define the model’s reputation for high-revving performance and precise handling when it was introduced. The example retains its factory configuration, with all systems reported to be in working order.

Inside, the car features a black leather interior that shows only minor signs of age. Slight wear is visible on the driver’s seat bolster, consistent with normal use over time. The convertible top remains intact, though it has a very small tear, and the plastic rear window has been replaced but exhibits minor wear.

Maintenance updates include the replacement of the driver’s side power window motor and the master brake cylinder, addressing common wear items to ensure continued drivability. In 2024, the exterior received a ceramic coating, helping preserve the Silverstone Metallic finish and maintain its appearance.

The vehicle remains largely original, which can be seen in photos at CarlisleAuctions.com or in person at the event in the coming weeks. Its original presentation is a factor that continues to drive interest among collectors and enthusiasts seeking unaltered examples of early S2000 production. With its documented ownership history, lack of accidents, and minimal changes from factory specification, the car represents a snapshot of Honda’s engineering approach at the turn of the millennium.

Offered for auction by Carlisle Auctions in as-is condition, the S2000 reflects both careful ownership and the natural aging expected of a 25-year-old sports car, balancing preservation with usability.
