Euro-Spec 1984 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole Heads to Bring a Trailer With No Reserve

A European-market 1984 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole is currently drawing attention on Bring a Trailer, offering collectors a chance to bid on a classic mid-engine Ferrari without reserve.

Finished in Rosso Corsa over beige leather, the targa-top sports car captures the unmistakable look that helped define Ferrari’s 1980s lineup. According to the selling dealer, the car was originally delivered through Sa.Mo.Car. SpA in Rome, Italy, before making its way to the United States in 1997. The current owner acquired the car in 2022 and has since carried out a range of maintenance and mechanical updates.

At the heart of the 308 GTS Quattrovalvole is a 2.9-liter quad-cam V8 featuring four valves per cylinder and Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle paired with a limited-slip differential, providing the mechanical engagement enthusiasts expect from a classic Ferrari.

Service work performed in 2022 included a timing belt service, replacement of pulleys, camshaft cover gaskets, and coolant hoses, along with the installation of a new fuel pump, accumulator, injectors, thermostat, and oil cooler. During the same period, the water pump and fuel distributor were rebuilt. Additional updates included new tires, spark plug wires, various belts, and engine lid struts. In July 2024, the fuel pump was replaced again and a reproduction distributor cap was installed.

The car rides on 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Exalto tires mounted in February 2022. Suspension consists of double wishbones front and rear, while braking is handled by ventilated discs at all four corners.

Visually, the 308 retains the classic Ferrari cues enthusiasts expect from the model. Exterior features include a black removable roof panel, pop-up headlights, dual side mirrors, a vented rear decklid, and quad exhaust outlets. An ANSA Sport exhaust system has also been fitted, adding a more aggressive note to the V8 soundtrack.

Inside, the cockpit features bolstered seats upholstered in beige leather, matching door panels, and a gated shifter with the traditional dogleg gear pattern. Additional amenities include electric windows and a Blaupunkt cassette stereo. The air-conditioning components have been removed but are included with the sale.

The leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel sits ahead of Veglia instrumentation, including a speedometer fitted with a 180-mph overlay. The odometer continues to read in kilometers and shows 23,000 kilometers (approximately 14,000 miles) according to the listing.

The Ferrari is offered on dealer consignment with manufacturer’s literature, service records, tools, the removed air-conditioning components, a clean U.S. Carfax report, and a clean Arizona title.

With its European-market origins, recent service work, and no-reserve auction format, this 308 GTS Quattrovalvole represents an opportunity for enthusiasts to acquire one of Ferrari’s most recognizable mid-engine sports cars from the era when analog driving experiences still defined the brand.
