A Rally Green 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is for sale from GAA Classic Cars, which will offer the coupe as Lot ST0078 on Saturday of its November auction in Greensboro, North Carolina. With 60,000 actual miles, a Muncie four-speed and an NCRS Shipping Data Report to support its story, this is the kind of Z/28 that rewards a closer look.

Few muscle cars wear a stripe package as well as the Z/28 wears white dual stripes against Rally Green. Chevrolet created the Z/28 to compete in SCCA Trans-Am racing, pairing a high-revving small-block V8 with a four-speed and firm chassis hardware, and that focused recipe is why the model still draws serious collectors. GAA’s listing for this Camaro shows the formula in its most appealing form.

In profile, the Camaro’s proportions are right. The coupe rides on 15×7 Rally wheels wrapped in E70-15 Goodyear tires, and the full photo gallery shows a clean, period-correct stance, with spoiler equipment and rear bumper guards adding to the details that make a 1969 Z/28 so recognizable.

The Z/28 package is far more than stripes, and this car is equipped with the special ducted hood that signals the model’s performance intent. The ad also lists a gauge package and a tachometer, the right instruments for an engine built to be revved.

The engine details are what Z/28 enthusiasts will study first. According to GAA’s catalog entry, the car carries a 386 block with the DZ suffix code, 186 casting heads and a 472 intake manifold, topped by an electric-choke Holley carburetor and fitted with electronic ignition. Those casting and code references are exactly what knowledgeable buyers look for when evaluating a Z/28.

The drivetrain is equally well matched to the car’s purpose. Lot ST0078 is equipped with a 660-case M20 Muncie four-speed with a Hurst shifter, a 12-bolt rear axle with 4.10 Positraction gearing and dual exhaust, a combination that delivers the mechanical, manual-shift driving experience Z/28 buyers want.

Chassis hardware is also well sorted. Power steering and power disc brakes are listed, along with an OE-style brake booster and master cylinder and multi-leaf springs, so the Camaro should be easier to enjoy on the road than a pure homologation special. The complete equipment list is posted with the lot.

Inside, the white interior with houndstooth seat inserts is a bright contrast to the Rally Green exterior. The listing photographs show a tidy cabin with a gauge package, a tachometer and an AM radio, and a Hurst shifter within easy reach.

The rear seat carries the same white and houndstooth treatment, and it presents well in the auction house’s images. For a coupe with 60,000 actual miles, that kind of cabin presentation helps tell the car’s story.

Documentation is a major part of this Camaro’s appeal. The car comes with an NCRS Shipping Data Report, which appears in the listing and ties the VIN to a March 11, 1969 production date and notes that the car was shipped to Canada.

That Canadian history is backed by more paper. The Canadian documentation included with the Camaro, along with GM Canada production records, helps explain how this Z/28 was built and where it was originally delivered, an intriguing chapter for collectors who appreciate cars with a distinct story.
