A 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS Tribute is drawing attention on a new auction-based platform, BuytheCar, where the car is currently bid to $25,250 with just over two days remaining.
A Classic Camaro With a Modern Twist
Originally built as an inline-six car according to its VIN, this Camaro has since been transformed into an SS tribute through a full restoration completed roughly 14 years ago. The car now wears yellow paint with a black stripe, along with SS badging and a matching SS-style fuel cap, giving it the aggressive look buyers expect.
The restoration didn’t stop at cosmetics. Under the hood, the original engine has been replaced with a 350 cubic-inch V-8 sourced from a 1972 Camaro Z/28, reportedly producing around 300 horsepower. Supporting upgrades include a Holley Demon carburetor, Hooker headers, and a custom exhaust system with Borla mufflers.
Power is routed through a rebuilt Borg Warner 5-speed manual transmission, adding a level of driver engagement that wasn’t part of the car’s original configuration.

This Camaro leans toward usability rather than perfection. Up front, it features a Global West performance suspension system with adjustable Viking coilovers, along with front disc brakes and power steering. The rear retains a more traditional setup with leaf springs and drum brakes.

Inside, the car has been updated with replacement bucket seats, new carpet, a woodgrain steering wheel, and an aftermarket center console. A Vintage Air system adds modern comfort, and a retro-style digital head unit blends old-school looks with newer functionality.
